Magpul AR 15 parts by Blackrifledepot? Perhaps no gun in history has received the fame, praise, and the criticism as the AR 15 rifle. In the United States, the political advances of gun rights have easily made the AR 15 the poster child for both sides of the debate. No other gun is as beloved by gun rights supporters than the AR 15, as the rifle represents the perfect example of the Second Amendment. On the Other side, supporters for gun control see it as a weapon of mass destruction that is simply designed to eliminate lives due to the nature of the weapon. They bring up it’s ability to rapid fire and expanded magazine capacities. Even though this rifle (and many others like it) is used in less than 1% of total deaths in the United States, there is no denying the fact that this gun is in the spotlight for both sides of the debate.

The name M-LOK stands for modular lock, and was created by Magpul, a large name in the industry. This innovative new way to mount accessories, unlike keymod, isn’t an open source system. While any company or manufacturer is free to license it if they ask permission, but the M-LOK system must be made with the same quality as the original design. This means you are practically guaranteed that any M-LOK mounting or accessory attachments are all going to be very well made and uniform. Instead of the keyhole shaped holes that keymod uses, M-LOK uses narrow slits and T-shaped nuts that lock into place once they are installed. This system has many advantages, including the fact that accessories can be mounted either towards the front or rear of the slit you are using, giving you the ability to put it in just the right spot. This system also works well with polymer handguards.

Just like with the cold hammer forged barrels, cut rifled barrels have their own set of advantages and disadvantages. This process produces the most accurate AR 15 barrels that money can buy, and the manufacturing process has been fine-tuned over many years. The downsides to these barrels are that they are much more expensive to make, and if not done right, a low quality barrel will be more susceptible to accuracy issues. Overall, both hammer forged barrels and cut rifled barrels are great options for your AR 15, and either one will serve the average shooter just fine! Discover even more info at AR 15 Parts.

This 7.5” length pistol upper assembly makes for a very fun but boisterous range gun. We run our little AR pistol with a black nitride bolt carrier group and have put just over three thousand rounds thru our personal T&E gun without a hiccup. it’s a tiny package that runs and runs, and is about as much fun as you can have with a small AR pistol. I would stress that, in our experience, this is an upper assembly I’d go with for fun above practicality. I’d also warn you that 5.56 out of a 7.5” upper assembly is quite loud. Loud may even be an understatement. I’m fairly certain, that given a choice, I’d NOT want my home defense AR sporting a 7.5” barrel. That said, the next step up is a lot more practical in that regard.

The other type of handguards that are the most popular are free-float handguard options. Almost all of these are made out of aluminum instead of polymer. They generally also cost a little more, but they do offer a big advantage over drop-in handguards in that they do not contact the forward portion of the barrel, which can be a major benefit to the rifle’s accuracy. Free-float handguards usually come in one solid piece that will slide around the barrel and are generally attached with some sort of barrel nut. These types of handguards are usually equipped with different types of mounting systems and accessories, as well as being available in different sizes, lengths, and styles. Free float handguards will also sometimes require more effort and time to install, and some will even require the use of special tools or equipment as well. Free float handguards are quickly becoming some of the most popular handguards on in the market today.
